Money Game 2 - Kabutochou No Kiseki, The (japan) Game

Money Game 2 is one of those weird, obscure NES titles that never left Japan—which makes sense, because it's basically a stock market simulator wrapped in an RPG shell. You start off picking companies to invest in, watching their values rise and crash while trying to outmaneuver rival traders. The pixel art is surprisingly detailed for an 8-bit econ lesson, with little salarymen running around Kabutochou (Tokyo's Wall Street) looking stressed.
At first, I had no clue what I was doing—throwing yen at random stocks like a tourist at a pachinko parlor. But after a few bankruptcies, you start recognizing patterns, like how certain news events tank specific industries. There’s even a weird rumor system where NPCs drop hints about upcoming market shifts. It’s oddly addictive once you get the hang of it, though the language barrier means you’ll be doing a lot of menu-guessing unless you’re fluent in Japanese. Definitely not your typical NES experience.
