Momotetsu Jr. is one of those Game Boy games that looks simple at first—cute little characters, bright colors, and what seems like a straightforward board game setup. But don’t let that fool you. After a few turns, you realize there’s this weirdly satisfying mix of luck and strategy, like if Monopoly had a baby with a JRPG and they both had too much caffeine.

You start by rolling dice (classic), buying properties (also classic), but then suddenly you’re dealing with random events, upgrading towns, and watching these tiny pixelated buildings pop up everywhere. The music’s got that classic Game Boy charm—chipper but slightly tinny—and the whole thing just has this weirdly addictive loop where you tell yourself "one more turn" way too often.

It’s not deep, but it’s the kind of game you’ll keep coming back to when you want something light but just strategic enough to feel like you’re outsmarting the AI. Or at least pretending to.
