You control Momotaro, the peach-born hero, on a quest to defeat the demon king. Your main goal is to gather your three animal companions, the dog, monkey, and pheasant, who join your party and fight alongside you in turn-based battles. Combat is straightforward, letting you attack with your sword or use special items, but the dungeons can be mazelike, requiring you to remember paths and solve simple puzzles to progress.
