Momotarou Collection on Game Boy is one of those classic Japanese RPGs that feels like digging through a time capsule. You start off with this little peach boy (yeah, Momotarou literally means "peach boy") and his weird animal pals—a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant, which sounds like a bad joke setup but somehow works.
The first 10 minutes are pure old-school charm: simple turn-based battles, towns with NPCs who say the same three lines, and that crunchy Game Boy soundtrack. It’s not flashy, but there’s something cozy about the grind—leveling up your squad, hunting for better gear, and slowly uncovering the story. The collection bundles a few games, so if you’re into retro JRPGs with a folktale twist, it’s a solid pickup.
Just don’t expect modern QoL stuff. You’ll be mashing the A button a lot.
