Man, Mole Mania is one of those Game Boy games that just sticks with you. You play as Muddy Mole, this tiny little guy who digs tunnels to rescue his family—simple premise, but man, does it get tricky fast. The first few levels ease you in, showing you how to push rocks around and duck under enemies, but then suddenly you're staring at the screen like, "Wait, how do I even get over there?"
The digging feels so satisfying—you pop up in unexpected spots, bait enemies into traps, and sometimes just brute-force your way through dirt walls when you're stuck. And those boss fights? They’re these weird, almost Rube Goldberg-style puzzles where you’ve gotta use everything you’ve learned. I remember one where you’re bouncing a ball back at this giant chicken, and it took me way too long to figure out the timing.
It’s got that classic Nintendo charm—cute but deceptively tough. If you missed this back in the day, it’s totally worth digging up (pun absolutely intended).
