About Mission Impossible (europe)
Mission Impossible for the NES came out in 1990 from Konami. It was one of those games that felt a bit different from the usual platformers of the time, using an engine similar to what powered Metal Gear. You got the sense it was trying something more methodical, a spy adventure built for the 8-bit console.
You control a single agent, moving screen by screen through enemy compounds. Your main goal is to rescue captured allies, which involves a lot of careful exploration and item hunting. You find keycards to open doors, avoid searchlights and guards, and use a limited supply of grenades to clear obstacles or stun enemies. The pacing is deliberate; you can't just rush in, and the difficulty comes from learning patrol patterns and managing your resources. It feels tense and thoughtful, like a slow-burn puzzle where a single mistake can send you back to the start.
