About Mirai Shinwa Jarvas (japan)
Mirai Shinwa Jarvas came out in Japan for the Nintendo Famicom in 1987, published by Taito. It was part of that wave of early action RPGs on the system, games that were trying to figure out how to blend exploration and combat on a single screen. You don't see it mentioned often, but it has its own place in that era.
You control a young hero, moving screen by screen through forests, towns, and dungeons. Your main goal is to stop an ancient evil from reviving, which involves gathering a set of magical orbs. The combat is straightforward; you swing your sword at monsters that appear, and you can also use a bow for ranged attacks. You'll spend a lot of time talking to villagers for clues and delving into multi-level dungeons to find keys and items. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty can be steep, especially when you're low on health and far from a safe place to recover. Playing it feels like a methodical puzzle, where every new screen demands a quick assessment of the threats waiting for you.
