About Mini Racers (usa) (proto)
Mini Racers was a prototype racing game developed for the Nintendo 64, but it never received an official release. It was created by the studio Smart Dog, a developer that worked on a few other titles for the system. This places it among the many unfinished projects from the N64 era, games that were in development but never made it to store shelves.
You control a small toy car from a top-down perspective, racing against other cars on tracks that resemble household environments like tabletops and floors. The main objective is to win each race by finishing first. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups scattered on the track, which can give you a temporary speed boost or disrupt your opponents, and navigating tight corners and obstacles that can send your car spinning out. The pacing is fast, and the controls are slippery, making it easy to crash into walls if you are not careful. Driving feels frantic and unpredictable, especially when you are fighting for position in a pack of cars.
