About Milon's Secret Castle
Milon's Secret Castle came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, developed and published by Hudson Soft. It was one of those early NES titles that felt a bit different from the straightforward platformers and action games of the time, presenting a large, interconnected world to figure out on your own.
You control Milon, a young boy with a bubble-blowing attack, exploring a mysterious castle room by room. Your main goal is to rescue a kidnapped fairy, Queen Eliza, by navigating the castle's many floors, defeating bosses, and finding hidden items. The game relies heavily on exploration; you shoot bubbles to reveal hidden doors and blocks, and you collect coins to buy essential power-ups from merchants hidden in the walls. The pacing is slow and methodical, and the difficulty is notoriously high due to cryptic secrets and limited continues. Playing it feels like a persistent, careful search through a place that does not want to give up its answers easily.
