About Millipede (japan)
Millipede for the NES came out in 1988, developed by HAL Laboratory. It was a sequel to Centipede, and on the NES it fit right in with other fast paced arcade style shooters from that time.
You control a small gnome at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right to shoot a constant stream of projectiles upwards. Your main goal is to destroy the millipede as it weaves through a field of mushrooms, while also fending off other insects like fleas and spiders. Key mechanics include blasting mushrooms to clear a path for your shots and collecting power ups like a rapid fire blaster that appear when you hit certain targets. The game is relentless; the screen gets crowded quickly, and the millipede splits into smaller, faster segments when hit, making every moment tense. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble for survival.
