About Might And Magic (japan)
Might and Magic for the NES came out in 1987, developed by Hudson Soft. It was one of the early attempts to bring a complex computer role-playing game to a home console, fitting right into that era when developers were testing the limits of what the system could handle.
You control a party of adventurers, moving them screen by screen across an overworld and into deep, dark dungeons. Your main goal is to uncover the secret of the inner sanctum, which involves exploring towns for clues, talking to characters, and fighting monsters in first-person, turn-based combat. You manage your party's equipment, spells, and gold, carefully mapping the twisting corridors on graph paper because the game itself does not do it for you. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with a high difficulty that punishes careless exploration. It feels like a long, methodical expedition where every small discovery is a hard-won victory.
