Micro Machines 64 Turbo is one of those N64 racers that just feels different—you’re not on some glossy track, you’re racing tiny cars across a breakfast table dodging cereal boxes, or weaving through a bathtub with soap bars as obstacles. The sense of speed is ridiculous for a game about toy cars, and the controls are tight enough that you’ll actually care about nailing those hairpin turns between salt shakers.
Where it really shines is the multiplayer chaos—up to eight players crammed onto one screen, elbows flying as everyone tries not to wipe out on a rogue pencil or get launched off a desk. The vehicle selection’s got some weird charm too, from goofy-looking sedans to what I swear is a lawnmower. It’s pure arcade nonsense, but the kind that makes you yell at your friends when someone pulls ahead at the last second.
If you miss the days when racing games didn’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s still a blast.
