Mickey's Safari in Letterland is one of those weirdly charming NES educational games that somehow makes learning letters feel like an adventure. You play as Mickey Mouse trekking through jungles and caves, collecting alphabet blocks while dodging snakes and crocodiles. The graphics are bright and cartoony for an NES title, and the music's got that bouncy Disney charm.
At first it seems simple—just jump on platforms and grab letters—but some of those later levels get surprisingly tricky. I remember getting stuck in the cave section where the platforms move in weird patterns. The game's definitely aimed at kids, but there's a weird satisfaction in clearing each area perfectly. And hey, if you mess up, Mickey does this exaggerated fall animation that never gets old.
It's not going to replace your favorite platformers, but there's something oddly relaxing about bouncing through Letterland with that cheerful soundtrack in the background.
