About Metal Storm
Metal Storm came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Tamtex. It was a late release for the NES, a time when developers were still finding new ways to push the aging hardware. You don't hear about it often, but it has a dedicated following.
You control a powerful mech, navigating through side scrolling stages filled with enemy robots and environmental hazards. Your main goal is to advance through each level, defeating a boss at the end. The signature mechanic is your ability to reverse gravity, flipping your mech to walk on ceilings and avoid obstacles. You have a standard shot, but you can also find power ups for a more powerful, wide spreading weapon. The game is known for its challenging pace, requiring quick reflexes and smart use of the gravity flip to survive. It feels like a demanding but fair test of your timing and spatial awareness.
