Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible II is one of those Game Boy RPGs that somehow flew under the radar—probably because it never left Japan back in the day. But if you're into old-school dungeon crawlers with a monster-collecting twist, this one's a hidden gem.
You start off in this medieval-fantasy world where demons are just... everywhere. The cool part? You can talk to them, recruit them, and even fuse them into stronger allies. The negotiation system feels a bit random at first—sometimes a demon just wants your HP, other times they'll join for no reason—but it’s weirdly charming once you get the hang of it.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the enemy designs. Some of these demons look like they wandered in from a much darker game, which gives the whole thing this eerie, low-key vibe. And yeah, the dungeons are classic first-person maze stuff—bring graph paper if you’re serious about mapping them.
It’s not as polished as the mainline SMT games, but there’s something about the simplicity that just works. You’ll probably lose a few hours to it without even realizing.
