Medarot Kuwagata is one of those Game Boy gems that makes you wish your childhood had more robot battles. You start off picking your first Medabot—I went with the Kuwagata model because, well, stag beetles are cool—and immediately get thrown into turn-based skirmishes where positioning and part-swapping matter way more than you'd expect.

The pixel art has that chunky, nostalgic charm, and the customization goes deep. You’re constantly tinkering with limbs, weapons, and special abilities between fights. At first, I just slapped on whatever had the highest attack stat, but then I got wrecked by a guy who outmaneuvered me with better range. Lesson learned.

It’s got that classic RPG grind, but the battles are snappy enough that it never drags. And there’s something weirdly satisfying about watching your little robot crew evolve from scrap metal to a well-oiled (literally) fighting machine. If you’re into tactical RPGs or just miss the days when games fit in your pocket, this one’s a solid time capsule.
