Maniac Mansion is one of those weird, hilarious point-and-click adventures that feels like playing through a B-movie. You start by picking two of Dave’s friends to help rescue Sandy—each has their own weird skills, like the nerdy kid who hacks computers or the punk girl who can... uh, microwave hamsters. (Yeah, it’s that kind of game.)

The mansion’s packed with bizarre puzzles and even weirder characters, like a sentient meteor and a tentacle monster in the basement. Half the fun is accidentally getting yourself killed in ridiculous ways—try using the wrong item at the wrong time and see what happens. The NES version’s a bit censored compared to the original, but it’s still gloriously unhinged.

Just don’t expect hand-holding. You’ll be clicking on everything, combining random junk, and probably getting stuck at least twice before dinner.
