Man, MLB Featuring Ken Griffey Jr. on N64 was the baseball game back in the day. The second you boot it up, you’re hit with that smooth, arcade-y feel—no bloated menus, just pick a team and go. The rosters are classic late-90s MLB (Griffey’s Mariners, obviously), and the controls are stupidly simple: swing with A, aim your pitch with the stick. No fuss.
What really made it stand out? The Home Run Derby mode. You could just zone out smashing dingers for hours, watching the ball sail way past the outfield fence. Graphics were clean for the time, too—players had actual faces instead of weird polygonal blobs. And that announcer voice? Iconic. "SWING AND A DRIVE!" still lives in my head rent-free.
It’s one of those games where you’d trash-talk your friends after a close game, then immediately demand a rematch. Still holds up if you’re into retro sports titles.
