Mahjong Master (J) on N64 is basically the chillest way to waste an afternoon with tiles. The graphics pop way more than you'd expect from a mahjong game—those bamboo and dragon tiles actually look nice against the wooden table backgrounds. At first, I just messed around in the basic mode, but the CPU opponents get sneaky fast if you crank up the difficulty.
What’s cool is how they tweaked the usual mahjong formula—some of the puzzle layouts have weird gaps or shapes that force you to think sideways. I got stuck on this one board where all the tiles were stacked in a pyramid, and it took me way too long to realize I had to clear the bottom layers first. Classic "duh" moment.
It’s all in Japanese, but the symbols are universal if you’ve played mahjong before. Just don’t expect a deep story mode or anything—this is pure tile-slapping zen with a side of 90s nostalgia. Perfect for when you want something strategic but not stressful.
