Mahjong 64 is one of those weird little N64 gems that never left Japan—but if you're into tile games, it's a surprisingly solid time. The moment you boot it up, you're hit with that classic mahjong setup, but everything's got that late-'90s KOEI polish: smooth animations, clean menus, and just enough 3D flair to remind you it's on the N64.
At first, I thought it'd be another barebones port, but there's actually some nice depth here. The AI doesn't just roll over, and there are a few rule variations to mess with if you're used to different regional styles. The controls take a minute to get used to (because, y'know, N64 controller + mahjong tiles), but once it clicks, it feels oddly satisfying to slam down a winning hand.
Definitely not for everyone, but if you've ever wanted to play mahjong with a chunky controller in hand, this might be your best shot.
