Maerchen Club is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never left Japan—a mix of fairy tale RPG and card battling with a seriously dreamy art style. You start off picking between three characters (I went with the knight first, no regrets), and suddenly you're thrown into this pastel-colored world where classic stories like Cinderella and Snow White get twisted into turn-based fights.

The card system takes a minute to figure out—some attacks combo if you play certain fairy tale characters together, and I definitely wasted a few turns before realizing the witch cards work better as openers. It’s got that classic Game Boy charm where everything feels slightly mysterious unless you squint at the tiny kanji. If you’re into obscure retro RPGs with a quirky vibe, this one’s a trip.
