MRC on N64 is one of those racers that feels like it got lost in the shuffle back in the day, but it’s got some surprisingly solid racing under the hood. You’ve got a decent mix of cars—everything from nimble little speedsters to hulking trucks—and the tracks actually throw some wild weather at you. One minute you’re racing under clear skies, the next you’re sliding through rain or snow, trying not to spin out.
The terrain changes things up too—dirt, asphalt, even ice—so you can’t just floor it the whole time. Took me a few races to realize that slamming the accelerator from the start was a bad idea. The handling’s weighty, not arcadey, so you actually have to brake before turns unless you want to eat the guardrail.
It’s not perfect (the graphics are very much late-90s N64), but if you’re into racing games that make you adjust on the fly, this one’s worth a few laps.
