About Mrc - Multi Racing Championship (e)
I remember picking up MRC: Multi Racing Championship for the Nintendo 64 back in 1997. It was developed by Genki, a company that put out a few other racing titles on the system. At the time, the N64 was starting to build its library, and this was one of the earlier attempts at a more simulation-style racing game on the console, sitting alongside arcade racers like Cruis'n USA.
You control a driver in a selection of different race cars, competing in a championship mode across various international tracks. The main objective is to win races, earn points, and ultimately secure the championship title. A couple of its signature mechanics were the detailed car setup options, where you could adjust gear ratios and suspension, and the split-screen multiplayer that allowed for two-player races. The game had a deliberate pace compared to some of its peers, and the physics required a careful touch, especially when navigating tighter corners. It feels like a straightforward, technical driving challenge that rewards patience and precision.
