About M.u.s.c.l.e
M.U.S.C.L.E. came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, published by Bandai. It was one of those early NES titles that felt a bit different, a wrestling game based on a popular line of small, colorful figures.
You control one of these strange, muscle-bound wrestlers, moving from screen to screen in a side-view arena. The main goal is to knock your opponent out of the ring by throwing them, which requires you to get close and grapple. You can punch to weaken them first, but the real strategy is in the timing of the grab and throw. The game is fast and surprisingly difficult, with the computer opponents quickly reversing your moves. It feels chaotic and a little stiff, but landing a successful throw to clear the screen is a simple, immediate satisfaction.
