Lylat Wars (or Star Fox 64, depending on where you grew up) is one of those N64 games that just feels right in your hands. You jump into Fox McCloud’s Arwing, and suddenly you’re barrel-rolling through asteroid fields, dodging enemy fire, and shouting "Do a barrel roll!" at your friends like it’s 1997 all over again.
The first mission throws you straight into the chaos—Corneria’s under attack, and you’re weaving between skyscrapers while lasers zip past you. The controls are tight, and that N64 rumble pack? Pure nostalgia. The branching paths keep things interesting—mess up a mission, and the story shifts, so no two playthroughs feel exactly the same.
And yeah, the multiplayer’s a blast if you’ve got a buddy. Nothing like watching your friend panic when you lock onto them with a homing shot. The graphics were mind-blowing back then, and honestly, they still hold up in that charming, polygonal way.
If you missed this one back in the day, it’s worth firing up just to see where modern rail shooters got their roots.
