Lylat Wars—or Star Fox 64, if you're not in Australia—is one of those N64 games that just feels right. You jump into an Arwing, blast off, and suddenly you're weaving through asteroid fields, dodging enemy fire, and shouting "Do a barrel roll!" at your friends. The controls are tight, the levels are chaotic in the best way, and that multiplayer mode? Absolute chaos with four players crammed on a couch.
What I love is how the game keeps throwing curveballs—one minute you're in a straight-up dogfight, the next you're skimming the surface of a planet avoiding turrets. And yeah, the graphics are dated now, but there's something about the way the explosions pop and the music kicks in during boss fights that still holds up. If you've got an N64 and a few buddies, this one's a no-brainer.
