Lunar Pool is one of those NES games that looks simple at first—just pool, right? But then you see the tables. They’re not rectangles; they’re weird, jagged shapes with obstacles, gaps, and even moving parts. The physics feel surprisingly solid for an 8-bit game, though. You’ll spend way too much time lining up shots only to watch the ball ricochet off some random corner and sink into a pocket you weren’t even aiming for.
It’s got that “one more try” vibe, especially when you realize some tables are practically puzzles. The Japanese version adds a few extra layouts, which is nice if you’ve played the US release to death. Not gonna lie, the music’s a little repetitive, but the gameplay holds up. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into arcade-style sports games with a twist.
