Lost World: Jurassic Park on Game Boy is one of those weird little licensed games that somehow works. You start off as a hunter—yeah, not a scientist or survivor, but a dude with a gun—dropped onto Isla Sorna to bag dinosaurs. The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed, and the jungle music has this eerie vibe that actually makes you feel like something’s stalking you.

At first, I thought it’d be another clunky movie tie-in, but the controls are decent for a Game Boy action game. You’ve got limited ammo, so every shot counts when a raptor lunges at you. And those T-Rex encounters? Way more tense than they have any right to be on this little screen. Just watch out for the compys—they’re small, but they swarm fast.

It’s not perfect—some of the hit detection is janky, and good luck figuring out where to go without trial and error—but there’s a weird charm to it. If you’re into retro handheld oddities, this one’s worth a look.
