About Loopz
Loopz came out for the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Audiogenic and published by Athena Co., Ltd. It was one of those many puzzle games that filled the portable's library, a simple concept built for short sessions. You would see it alongside titles like Tetris, another game about fitting shapes together, but Loopz had its own particular twist on the formula.
You don't control a character; you manipulate wireframe pieces on a grid. The goal is to connect all the segments into complete, unbroken loops before a timer runs out. The main mechanics involve rotating the pieces and sliding entire rows or columns to create these circuits. The puzzles start gently, but the complexity ramps up as new shapes and larger grids are introduced, demanding more foresight with each stage. It feels like quietly untangling a knot in your mind.
