About Lock ?n Chase
I first played Lock 'N Chase on the original Game Boy, a version released in 1990 by Taito. It was part of that early wave of portable games where simple concepts had to carry a lot of weight. You could see its arcade roots, but it felt right at home on the small screen, a straightforward maze game in an era before handhelds got overly complicated.
You control a thief, moving through single-screen mazes to collect all the coins. The main goal is to grab every coin and then reach the exit before the cops catch you. Your signature moves are placing temporary blocks to cut off the pursuing policemen and using doors that let you warp across the map. The pacing is quick; the cops get faster and more numerous as you clear levels, creating a real scramble. It feels like a tense, clever race against a closing net.
