About Little Nemo Dream Master
Little Nemo: The Dream Master came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Capcom. It was part of that wave of late NES games that really pushed what the system could do visually, with big, colorful sprites and detailed backgrounds. The game is based on the early 20th century comic strip by Winsor McCay, though it plays like a side scrolling platformer.
You control a young boy named Nemo, moving from left to right through a series of dream worlds. Your main goal is to get through each stage and find the key to the door at the end, all to rescue the Slumberland princess. The game's big hook is that Nemo isn't a fighter; instead, you throw candy to temporarily pacify certain animals. Once they eat it, you can ride them. Each animal has a different ability: the frog can jump high and use its tongue as a grapple, the mole can dig through soft dirt, and the gorilla can smash through barriers. The levels are screen by screen, and you often need to figure out which animal to use and where to find it to progress. It starts out fairly simple but gets quite difficult, with some precise platforming required later on. Playing it feels like piecing together a strange, sometimes frustrating, but always imaginative puzzle.
