Little Nemo - The Dream Master is one of those NES gems that sticks with you—partly because of its weirdly charming dream logic, partly because it’s just so darn pretty for an 8-bit game. You play as Nemo, a kid who gets pulled into this surreal dream world where animals let you ride them if you feed them candy (because of course they do). The controls take a second to get used to—Z for jump, X for throwing candy—but once it clicks, you’re hopping on frogs, piloting gorillas, and sliding around on penguins like some kind of sleepwalking parkour expert.
The levels get wild fast—one minute you’re dodging giant mushrooms, the next you’re inside a toy train getting chased by living playing cards. And that soundtrack? Still slaps. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand; some of those platforming sections are brutal if you don’t figure out which animal works best for the situation. I wasted way too many lives on the bee before realizing the mole was the real MVP for tight spaces.
If you’re into old-school platformers with personality, this one’s a trip worth taking.
