Little Mermaid - Ningyo Hime is one of those weirdly charming NES games you stumble on when digging through retro titles. It’s based on the Disney movie, but plays like a mix of Bubble Bobble and a light action-adventure—Ariel swims around, shoots bubbles at enemies to trap them, then tosses them like projectiles. Surprisingly fun once you get the hang of it.

The controls are floaty (she is underwater, after all), and the music’s got that classic Capcom chiptune energy. Some of the later levels get tricky with tight spaces and enemy spam, but it’s short enough that you won’t rage-quit. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into quirky retro platformers.
