Little Master 2 - Raikou No Kishi is one of those obscure Game Boy RPGs that somehow slipped under the radar. You start off as this kid who gets pulled into a fantasy world—pretty standard setup, but the battles are where it gets interesting. Instead of turn-based, it's more like a weird hybrid where you move your characters around a grid while trading blows.

First time I played, I got wrecked by the second fight because I didn’t realize positioning actually mattered. The sprites are tiny but weirdly charming, and there’s this whole elemental system where certain attacks just don’t work unless you’re standing in the right spot. Feels like someone took Fire Emblem and mashed it with a dungeon crawler, but on a Game Boy budget.

It’s in Japanese, so unless you’re fluent or patient with menus, expect some guesswork. Still, there’s something satisfying about figuring it out as you go. The music’s got that classic Game Boy chiptune vibe too—catchy in a slightly grating way.
