About Lion King, The
The Lion King on Game Boy came out in 1994, a portable version of the console game published by Virgin Interactive. It was a solid platformer for its time, fitting right in with the other side scrolling adventures you'd find on the handheld.
You control Simba through levels based on the film, from the Pride Lands to the elephant graveyard. Your main goal is to survive the environments and defeat the hyenas and other creatures in your path. You progress screen by screen, using a simple claw attack and a growing roar to stun enemies. The game involves a lot of jumping between platforms and navigating tricky climbs. It can be quite difficult, with some precise jumps required that lead to frequent trial and error. Playing it feels like a persistent, hands on challenge from start to finish.
