Man, Lion King on Game Boy hits different. You start off as little Simba bouncing around the Pride Lands, and within minutes you're already getting wrecked by hyenas—just like the movie, but way more frustrating in the best way. The sprites are surprisingly detailed for a tiny screen, and that opening level with the stampeding wildebeests? Pure panic.
It’s one of those Disney games that’s tougher than it looks. You’ll swipe at bugs with your tiny paws, awkwardly climb giraffe necks (why is this so hard?), and eventually face off against Scar in a showdown that feels epic even in 8-bit. The music’s obviously stripped down, but your brain fills in the gaps—I still caught myself humming "I Just Can’t Wait to Be King" after the first level.
Definitely a nostalgia trip, but also weirdly punishing for a kids’ game. Worth it just to hear the Game Boy’s version of Rafa’s voice saying "Simba…" in crunchy audio.
