About Legend Of Prince Valiant, The (europe)
I first played The Legend of Prince Valiant on the NES back in 1992. It was published by Ocean Software, a company known for a lot of licensed games from that period. This one fit right in with the other side-scrolling action adventures that were common on the system, based on the animated TV show about King Arthur's knights.
You control Prince Valiant himself, moving screen by screen through forests, castles, and dungeons. Your main goal is to prove your worth and become a Knight of the Round Table. The gameplay involves a lot of sword fighting against various guards and creatures; you can also find and use a bow for ranged attacks. You explore different areas, often needing to find specific items or keys to progress. The game can be quite difficult, with enemies that respawn and some tricky platforming sections. It feels like a methodical quest where every new screen demands careful attention.
