Okay, so Last Starfighter on NES—yeah, it’s based on that cheesy-but-lovable '80s movie with the early CGI spaceships. The game throws you right into the cockpit, blasting away at alien swarms in side-scrolling shooter sections. It’s not the smoothest flight—controls feel a little stiff, and some enemies just kinda materialize out of nowhere. But there’s something charming about the chunky pixel explosions and the way it tries to cram the movie’s energy into 8-bit form.
You’ll recognize a few scenes if you’ve seen the film, though don’t expect deep storytelling. Mostly it’s just you, your ship, and a whole lot of button-mashing. The music’s got that classic NES synth vibe, at least. Not a hidden gem, but if you’re nostalgic for the movie or just love rough-around-the-edges retro shooters, it’s got its moments.
