Okay, so Last Action Hero on GB is one of those licensed Game Boy games that somehow works way better than it should. You play as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character from the movie, blasting through side-scrolling levels with a pistol that feels weirdly satisfying for an 8-bit game. The first stage throws you right into a shootout—no tutorial, just dive in and figure it out.
It’s got that classic "90s movie tie-in" jank—some enemies take way too many hits, and the platforming can be a little stiff—but the action’s fast, and the chunky pixel explosions are weirdly charming. Boss fights are the highlight, especially the helicopter battle where you’re dodging missiles like some kind of tiny, monochrome action hero. If you grew up with a Game Boy in your backpack, this one’s a nostalgia trip worth firing up.
