Kung Fu HeroS is a Nintendo Entertainment System game released in 1990 by Culture Brain. It arrived during a period when side-scrolling action games were common, and it fit right in with its martial arts theme and cooperative play option.

You control one of two kung fu masters, Jacky or Lee, who must rescue a kidnapped princess and recover ten stolen treasures from eight castles. The game is viewed from an overhead perspective as you move screen by screen through each castle's rooms. Your main actions involve punching and kicking a large variety of enemies, including bazooka soldiers, coffin men that can trap you, and invulnerable Bison Commandos that must be avoided. You cannot advance to the next room until you defeat a specific number of foes in the current one, which dictates the game's methodical pace.
