Konchuu Hakase is one of those weirdly satisfying Game Boy gems where you just... catch bugs. Like, a lot of bugs. You start off with this dinky little net and zero street cred as an insect researcher, but after poking around in bushes and flipping over rocks, you slowly build up this bizarrely impressive collection. The pixel art gives each critter so much personality—some scuttle away the second they see you, others just sit there like "yeah, whatever, take me."

What I love is how the game makes you think like an actual bug hunter. Different areas have totally different species, and some only come out at certain times. Messed me up at first when I realized night and day actually mattered. And don’t even get me started on the rare ones—spent way too long chasing this one glittery beetle that kept vanishing into tall grass.

It’s got that classic Game Boy charm where the simplicity hooks you, but there’s actually some sneaky depth if you wanna 100% it. Perfect for short bus rides or when you just wanna zone out and hunt digital insects for an hour. Still mad I never found that rainbow moth, though.
