Konami GB Collection Vol.2 is a little time capsule of early Game Boy nostalgia—three classic Konami titles bundled together. You’ve got Gradius: The Interstellar Assault, which is exactly what you’d expect: tight, punishing shoot-em-up action with those iconic power-up capsules. Then there’s Parodius, the goofy, surreal spin on Gradius where you’re shooting down enemy penguins and dancing octopuses. And finally, Contra: The Alien Wars, a scaled-down but still frantic run-and-gun that somehow makes the Game Boy’s tiny screen feel like a warzone.
None of these are perfect ports, but they’re impressive for the hardware—especially Parodius, which keeps the weirdness intact. The controls can feel a little cramped, but that’s the Game Boy for you. If you’re into retro shooters or just want to see how Konami squeezed big arcade energy into a handheld, it’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect any mercy from Gradius.
