About Klax
Klax came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by Tengen. It was part of that wave of arcade puzzle games that found a solid home on the NES, sitting alongside titles that prioritized quick, repeatable sessions over long campaigns. The presentation was straightforward, with bright colors and simple sounds that fit right in with the console's library at the time.
You control a paddle at the bottom of a slanted well, catching colored tiles as they roll off a conveyor belt. Your main goal is to create rows of three, four, or five matching tiles, called Klax, by placing them carefully on the grid. The core mechanics involve catching the tiles before they fall into the gap, then strategically dropping them to form lines horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. As you progress, the speed increases and the patterns you need to complete become more complex, demanding faster decisions. The game has a steady, building difficulty that keeps you focused on the falling rhythm. It feels like a constant, engaging test of your planning under pressure.
