About Klax (japan)
Klax came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by Tengen. It was part of that wave of puzzle games on the NES that followed the initial arcade hits, offering a more methodical challenge compared to the frantic pace of some contemporaries.
You control a small paddle at the bottom of the screen, catching colored tiles as they slide down a ramp. The goal is to create rows, columns, or diagonals of three or more matching tiles, which then vanish. The core mechanics involve catching tiles, storing them on your paddle, and then dropping them into the grid below to form these lines. You can also flip the direction of the conveyor belt to manage the flow. The game starts calmly but the speed increases steadily, demanding quick decisions about tile placement and order. It feels like a constant, engaging battle against a rising tide of colored blocks.
