Kiteretsu Daihyakka - Bouken Ooedo Juraki is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never left Japan. You play as Kiteretsu, this kid inventor from the manga, running around Edo-period Japan solving puzzles with his wacky gadgets. The pixel art’s charming, and the music has that classic chiptune twang—definitely feels like a lost 90s anime tie-in.
First thing you’ll notice? The controls are a bit stiff, but once you get used to it, there’s something oddly satisfying about tinkering with random inventions mid-stage. Some work better than others (the spring shoes are fun; the "invisible cloak" just makes everything blurry). It’s not deep, but it’s got that old-school handheld quirkiness. If you’re into obscure retro stuff, this one’s a neat curiosity.
