Kirby’s Dream Land 2 is one of those Game Boy classics that just oozes charm. You start off floating around as Kirby, sucking up enemies and stealing their powers—standard stuff, but then the game throws in these animal buddies that totally change how you play. Ride a fish to zip through water levels, hop on an owl to glide over gaps, or bulldoze through obstacles with a hamster. It sounds silly, but it actually adds a surprising amount of strategy.
The levels are short and sweet, but some of them hide secrets that’ll make you backtrack once you’ve got the right buddy. And that soundtrack? Pure nostalgia—peppy little tunes that stick in your head way longer than they should. It’s not the hardest Kirby game, but there’s something satisfying about plowing through enemies with a well-timed power-up or discovering a hidden rainbow drop. If you’ve got a soft spot for old-school platformers, this one’s still a blast.
