About Kinnikuman - Muscle Tag Match (japan)
Kinnikuman: Muscle Tag Match came out in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, a time when wrestling games were still finding their footing on the console. It was published by Bandai and based on the popular Kinnikuman manga and anime, so it already had a built in audience of fans who knew the characters and their wild, superhuman antics.
You control one of the musclemen, teaming up with a partner against another tag team in a side view ring. The main goal is to weaken your opponents enough to pin them for a three count or force a submission. Signature mechanics include the ability to climb the turnbuckle for high risk aerial attacks and to perform special moves by charging up your power meter. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be sharp, with the computer opponents quickly reversing your grapples if you are not careful. It feels like a chaotic scramble where a single mistake can turn the match against you in an instant.
