King Hill 64 - Extreme Snowboarding (J) game

King Hill 64 is one of those N64 snowboarding games that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s got this weird, janky charm to it. The physics feel a little off at first—like your board’s sliding on ice even when it shouldn’t—but once you get used to it, pulling off ridiculous mid-air spins becomes weirdly satisfying.

You’ve got these steep, half-pipe-heavy courses with way more obstacles than you’d expect, and the weather actually messes with your controls. Snow starts falling, visibility drops, and suddenly you’re wiping out because you couldn’t see that random tree stump. It’s frustrating in the best way.

Not gonna lie, the trick system takes some getting used to (good luck nailing a clean 360 without faceplanting), but there’s something about the sheer chaos of it that makes it stand out from the more polished snowboard sims of the era. If you can track down a ROM, it’s worth a few runs just for the novelty.
