About Killer Instinct Gold
Killer Instinct Gold came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1996, developed by Rare. It was one of the early fighting games on the system, arriving at a time when the N64 library was still growing and players were eager for new competitive experiences.
You control one of several fighters, each with their own special moves and combos. The main goal is to defeat your opponent in one-on-one combat across a series of matches. The game is known for its combo system, where you chain together attacks to build long, damaging sequences. Another key mechanic is the Combo Breaker, which lets you interrupt an opponent's combo if you input the correct command at the right moment. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially when facing opponents who have mastered the combo systems. Landing a full Ultra Combo to finish a match feels intensely satisfying.
