About Kikou Keisatsu Metal Jack (japan)
Kikou Keisatsu Metal Jack was a Japan-exclusive Game Boy title released in 1992, developed by KID and published by Takara. It was based on the anime series of the same name, and while an American version called Metal Jack: Armored Police was once planned, that release was ultimately cancelled. This game arrived during a period when licensed action games were common on the platform, often attempting to translate animated action into portable form.
You control a pilot inside a large, humanoid robot, moving through side-scrolling stages to defeat enemy robots and soldiers. Your main goal is to fight through each level, confronting a boss at the end. Signature mechanics include using your robot's extendable punching arm for close combat and a limited supply of screen-clearing bombs for emergencies. The game is structured as a straightforward action experience, but its difficulty can feel punishing due to limited continues and aggressive enemy patterns. Navigating the small screen while managing your attacks and dodging incoming fire creates a tense, methodical pace. It feels like a challenging test of reflexes and patience.
