Ever heard of Kikou Keisatsu Metal Jack? It’s one of those obscure Japan-only Game Boy beat-em-ups that slipped under the radar—probably because the planned U.S. release (as Metal Jack: Armored Police) got scrapped. Based on the anime, you play as a dude in a mech suit punching through waves of enemies, which sounds cooler than it actually is, but hey, it’s got that early '90s charm.
Developed by KID and published by Takara, it’s pretty basic by today’s standards—side-scrolling, a few power-ups, and the usual boss fights. The sprites are chunky, and the controls take some getting used to, but if you’re into retro anime tie-ins, it’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
